The smallest of our care homes in size but bursting with character and charm. Merryfield nursing home is a Cotswold manor house built in 1922. It has since been tastefully converted into a private residential nursing home for the elderly.

The atmosphere is informal and friendly and the care is of course excellent. Both the care home and our staff are equipped to provide the very best care for residents with a range of needs, be they general nursing and care assistance, or perhaps care for a much more specific illness or ailment.

Our wide ranging capabilities are testament to the extensive and varied training our staff go through and the attention to detail shown in our ‘individualised’ care plans. We always strive to provide our residents with whatever it is they want or at least try our utmost to do so.

ACCOMMODATION

All rooms at Merryfield are fully furnished and include an electric profiling bed, call bell system, smart TV (with Sky available on request), and optional telephone connection. Rooms offer en-suite facilities, and all are designed for comfort, safety, and ease of movement.

Residents are encouraged to personalise their space with familiar furniture, photos, and meaningful belongings. We also accommodate individual décor preferences, helping each room feel truly like home. iPads are available for those who wish to stay connected with loved ones via email or video call.

FOOD & DRINK

Our wonderful chefs provide a superb and varied choice of meals, prepared using fresh local produce. Our menus are designed to cater for what our residents love and look forward to. Residents, as they would in their own home, choose where and when to have their breakfast, lunch and dinner. We have scored 5 stars with the “Scores on the Doors” scheme, a food hygiene rating of ‘Excellent’.

ACTIVITIES

At Merryfield, we offer a varied and engaging activities programme led by our full-time Activities Coordinators. Residents enjoy everything from creative arts, drama therapy, and live musical performances to animal therapy, gentle exercise, and time in our landscaped gardens. Outings in our private minibus include visits to local stately homes, the Cotswolds, and nearby towns.

Whether it’s joining a group event or relaxing with a glass of wine, classical music and a good book, each resident is supported to spend their time in a way that brings them comfort, connection, and joy.

MEDICAL

A General Practitioner visits the care home in Witney each week and where possible residents are welcome to retain their existing GP’s.

PERSONALISED

The nursing care home provides other services including; Chiropody, Hairdressing, Optician, Audiology, a multi-denominational church service that is held once a month and individual clergy are welcomed at any time.
