Bartlett’s residential care home is a Victorian country house built in 1856 for the Bartlett family when they were the High Sheriffs of Buckinghamshire. It has since been a school and is now a splendid country house retreat for the elderly. Set in an extensive 18 acres of grounds, located close to Aylesbury and with spectacular views across the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it is perfect for those who wish to be secure in the knowledge that all their personal and social needs will be met.
Bartlett’s offers its residents around the clock personal care, assisting residents as often and as much as they would like. An open and evolving care plan allows for effective and comprehensive care for all residents, as individuals. ACCOMMODATION
Bedrooms are fully furnished and feature a private en-suite shower room, an electric profiling bed, and an accessible layout designed for comfort and ease of movement. Rooms are equipped with a SMART TV, telephone, call bell system, and access to Sky TV if desired.
Our dedicated high-speed leased line ensures reliable Wi‑Fi connectivity throughout the home, keeping residents and their visitors connected at all times.
Residents are warmly encouraged to personalise their space with familiar furniture, photos, and treasured belongings. Where possible, décor can be adapted to individual preferences, helping each room feel truly like home.
FOOD & DRINK
Our chef uses fresh local produce to provide a wonderful choice of meals on a daily basis. Residents may choose where they take their meals, be it in the privacy of their own room or together with other residents (and often friends and relatives) in the dining room. Bartlett’s has scored 5 Stars with the “Scores on the Doors” scheme, a food hygiene rating of ‘excellent’.
ACTIVITIES
We have exceptional activities coordinators who arrange a varied programme of events and outings, including visits to local stately homes, animal therapy, musical entertainment, puppy yoga, virtual reality headsets, and the more earthy pursuits of helping our garden to look as wonderful as it does. Some of our residents simply prefer Vivaldi, a glass of red wine and a good book!
MEDICAL
Individuals are welcome to retain their GP where possible, though the Bartlett’s does have a General Practitioner visiting weekly or whenever required.
PERSONALISED
The home provides iPad tablets to enable residents to communicate regularly with relatives via services like Skype and FaceTime. Other services are also available including Chiropody, Hairdressing, Optician, Physiotherapy and a multi-denominational church service.

Philip was part of our Intergenerational Project, ‘Meeting Life’. Where 94-year-old Philip met Year 6 primary school children to tell them his life story.
