Our History

Peverel Court Care is a second generation family care home business established in 1986. It began with the acquisition of Stone House Nursing Home by a former nurse at Brighton General Hospital. In a world of multiple occupancy bedrooms and wards, Stone House quickly built a reputation for a high standard of personalised care through establishing a compassionate and caring ethos in an idyllic country setting.

Merryfield House in Witney, Oxon was established soon after, again setting the benchmark for care standards and aesthetics.

The group, which now also consists of Bartlett’s Residential Care Home near Aylesbury, has since passed to a new generation in the form of the founder’s son, who has been at the helm since 2000. Peverel Court Care continues to set the standard with new accommodation and facilities, whilst retaining the uncompromising focus on care standards.

All three homes are rated as outstanding by their residents, with an exceptional reputation with the national and local inspectorate and on review websites such as carehome.co.uk.

Peverel Court Care has spent decades committed to staff development and training with all three homes now managed by long-standing staff who joined the group over 15 years ago. They have demonstrated and developed the perfect mix of compassion and organisational efficiency. Our most recent home manager, who took up post in 2017, joined the company in 2004 as a Healthcare Assistant. The group’s Quality Assurance Manager joined the group as a nurse at Merryfield House in 1998. This ability to retain staff in a sector renowned for high employee turnover is a reflection of the high value we place in our team.
